Symptoms of Adolescent Fibromyalgia

One of the main symptoms of fibromyalgia in teens is sore spots on the muscles. The spots hurt when pressure is put on them, which is why they are called “tender points”.

Adolescents who have fibromyalgia will feel soreness on these tender points.  They will also be experiencing aches and pains for at least three months.  The soreness can start in just one part of the body, but eventually it can affect other areas.  Fibromyalgia has been described in many ways; here are some of the symptoms your child may experience:

  • Tightness, tenderness, burning or aching
  • Fatigue
  • Difficulty sleeping or waking up tired
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Stomachache
  • Headaches
  • Difficulty remembering
  • Restless leg while sleeping.

If you child is between the ages of 13-17 and are experiencing these symptoms, contact our office for more information about a clinical trial for adolescents with fibromyalgia.  You can either complete the questionnaire or call our office at 877-453-0404.
